Dependency Transformation Meetings – Connolly Tacon & Meserve, Attorneys At Law

News From: September, 2019 Dependency Transformation Meetings Attorneys Kevin Meserve and Amy Perlman offer their time at a significantly reduced hourly rate representing children who have been removed from abusive or neglectful households. This legal process, which focuses on providing services to families and working towards reunification, is known as “dependency.” Dependency cases are a top priority for the judges and staff at Thurston County Family and Juvenile Court. For this reason, the Dependency Transformation Team was created to identify new procedures for optimizing the dependency process. Kevin Meserve was a part of this team and, in June 2019, the court began to implement the decisions made by the Dependency Transformation Team. The Dependency court day moved from Friday to Wednesday in an effort to maximize attendance. Hearings were assigned a specific slot to reduce the amount of time parents and children spend in court. The process through which parent and youth attorneys provide the court with updates was standardized and notices regarding court hearings were updated to ensure clarity. The changes recommended by the Dependency Transformation Team have streamlined the process, ensuring those involved in the dependency process have more time to ensure that families are getting the services they need.
